I can thoroughly recommend Roger Taylor's book Voyages of a Simple Sailor. (You can buy it through Nick's Amazon link if Santa failed to put it in your stocking.) You may not do the kind of sailing that Roger does on Mingming but he argues his case well and has an amusing turn of phrase to boot.
Guess what manner of vessel he describes here, "In addition, I really did not want to spend another minute in the shadow of the opulent behemoth anchored alongside, bathed in the self-satisfied glow of it's own smug vulgarity."
A friend (Coribbee sailor) lent me that book recently. Excellent book well worth reading - moves along at a cracking pace. I thought the loss of the Endeavour could possibly have been avoided with clearer heads and better seamanship. The skipper did not come out so well out of the tale.
Prior to reading it I was dismissive of the Jester challenge type of sailing as misguided - this book made me rethink my attitude. RT also contributes to the Corribbee owners association website with articles and video for those interested.

You won't be disappointed, I got one last year and they are smashing bit o kit, can use them stood on the wooden deck and no problem, they cook brilliantly. Just watch it when your emptying the container that holds the charcoal don't try to do it hot, I dropped mine overboard and had to send for another.
