OK stop laughing, it's true. Elaine at Total Sailing organised a fun Rally, it was supposed not to be serious.
The wind was dead astern and strong enough to jolly us along at 4.5 to 5.5 knots most of the time, which gets round that fact the boat weighs a good bit and isn't so good at pointing. Also we completed the course in 40 mins beating the folk who started 4 mins behind us by 2½ mins so it would have been a bit closer if it was a 90 min race.
Anyway, I'm off to polish me pewter dish and gloat some more.
On Sunday we came 8th in a race round 3 buoys which did involve tacking, we did OK when it was blowing, the calm periods did us in though. The winners passed us on the second lap, we had to do 3.
It was fun but I don't think I'm going to start racing seriously, other than the two boats within sight of each other type.

Well done.
There's you - used to have a First 18 but only start this racing lark after swapping her for a Centaur.

PS - the blue sky didn't arrive at LL til late on Sunday afternoon.

There is evidence HERE.
We drank the bubbly last night to celebrate my 30th 21st birthday!
I only went to the event for the social life, the racing was a bit of a laugh, but you wouldn't think so to see how hard some were trying, I couldn't be arsed to do it every week/fortnight or whatever.

BTW - Did they set any sort of handicap for the 3 lap round the buoys on Sunday?

Everyone did 3 laps, it's just that the leading 3 boats did 3 laps before we had done 2.
