Good morning,
Just a quick email to advise though of you who may be sailing around the south of the UK through this evening and tonight to be prepared for a period of unseasonably strong winds. As low pressure passes north through the Irish Sea this evening winds will be strengthening through the Bristol Channel and the English Channel bringing the threat of gales.
As of now the strongest winds I am expecting are along the southern coasts of southwest England by mid evening, and then these passes east through the central and western parts of the England Channel through the early hours, reaching the eastern Channel later in the night.
The Weatheronline chart to the bottom of this email is for 1am Wednesday morning and shows 30kt model predicted mean speeds through the central Channel. Add about 10-15% on top of these speeds to allow for model correction and you have a F8 mean wind.
Just one to be aware of and not to be caught out!
Have a good one,
Simon
