What have I done?

Post by TFATC »

Those few sad people with nothing better to do than read drivel on t’internet (like me) and who have been following my blog on Sodor Bay will know I bought a motor cruiser cheap, spent a fairly large fortune on it, got it working and then have not had time to use it as I spend a lot of time in Norway and the boat is in the UK.

So, what is the solution to this problem? Seemed to me there were two options. 1. Get the boat over to Norway (which was my original intention) but no time to test the boat before bringing it over, or 2. Buy another boat.

I took the totally unreasonable option, and after looking at a lot of overpriced carp for sale, I now own one half of a Skagerak Wanderer. Built in 1974, 21 foot, two suits of sails, 4hp Mercury outboard, broken main halyard, and unmoved for 3 years.

Been out twice (you know how it is with a new toy) and both times the wind died to nothing. Motors well though, despite the fact that each time we go out we have to take half of Stavangers marine life with us for a holiday! Hoping I can put off scraping it til the autumn, as having virtually no tide here, drying out requires a boatyard.

Oh well, at least it is a proper boat and should stop some of the flack I receive for the stink boat… 8)

Re new boat in Stavanger

Post by hazard to shipping »

Enjoyed the ride in the Corvair the other day - will hopefully take you up on the offer of a trip in Stavanger on the new boat. Don't think I will sail over the next time though!! Be time to come home before I get there.
