Spring is around the c orner
Wey-hey, Dark Island back in the water an by tomorrow sails will be bent on and ready to go. Engine oil and filters changed deck scrubbed, winters gunge all gone.
Frog spawn in abundance on Kerrera a sure sign of a dry summer, never seen as much at this time of the year for years.
Weather set to improve next week what could be better?

We can't change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.

How does that work, then?Daveanmucker wrote: Frog spawn in abundance on Kerrera a sure sign of a dry summer, never seen as much at this time of the year for years.
Don't get me wrong. After the last couple of years we could do with some decent weather, and I'm more than happy to go with the frogspawn theory, it's just my basic engineering scepticism of unexplained connections...

Re: Spring is around the c orner
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth Dave. If the frogs say it's going to be a good deason that's good enough for me (to feel at bit more optimistic at any rate).
As to how things could be better - if Silkie was as ready as Dark Island...

For the Engineers and sceptics of which I am both, frogs lay more frogspawn when the future is to be dry hoping that some at least will survive.
Be aware that this explanation has a lot to do with a glass or two of Laphroig whisky celebrating a successful launch and absolute optimism for the summer ahead.
However it must be said that Lancashire frogs are the best weather forcasters.

The bandy little rastards are having a field day in my pond too. I think there is twice as much spawn as last year and they are still croaking away calling to the laydeeees.

Apart from Galley Slaves forced to devise new menus for the coming season - using a two-burner meths system for a new galley.
This is while the skipper is having it away with not one but TWO other floozies on Windermere
How dare he - a threesome indeed! And he has the gall to ring me at work to tell me he's on his own...I can hear the new one chugging away in the background - a Volvo Penta if you please!
So I'm stuck at home with a pond full of

The pair of you are getting very posh - or is that privileged - 2 burner stoves and a First 18 as a tender.lady_stormrider wrote:Apart from Galley Slaves forced to devise new menus for the coming season - using a two-burner meths system for a new galley.

Well appart from our current lack of telephone line and therefor web access, Sails are bent on and BBH should depart Kip round the M o K towards her new berth in Croabh on Wednesday next weather permitting!
(Currently relying on GPRS which is as slow as a slow thing going slow!)
The sun is shining in Argyll which, I am told is a rare event!

What a week last week was, got all my jobs done including the teak on deck cleaned and Dek Ole'd, not often I can get that done in March.
As They say in Lancashire " jobs a guddun"
Not only that, I got a shake out sail around Kerrera, not much wind but did manage to get round without using the tin top sail.
All thanks to the Frogs

We can't change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.

Oh to be able to see someone type in 'Lanky Twang'! We had a lovely sail down Windermere and a comedy session learning how to moor a bigger boat. One hilarious incident involving two cleats and two bowlines and another involving the head but I have a new skillet to practice with.

Dark Island looked good as she left Kerrera for her first cruise (as we pottered around the Cardinal Buoys, in Oban Bay on Rosally, grabbing what bits of breeze we could). We eventually got a bit of a breeze heading into the Firth of Lorn.Daveanmucker wrote:What a week last week was, got all my jobs done including the teak on deck cleaned and Dek Ole'd, not often I can get that done in March.
