Confectionery Topic Topic

Post by Fingal »

OK, so here's a new Topic. Many years ago when I was quite young I used to patronise a sweetie shop with a comedian behind the counter. When I asked him for a topic he would respond by suggesting a discussion on nuclear disarmament, or whether we should join the Common Market. I had to respond by larfing politely before he would willingly exchange a Topic Bar for some coin. I don't know what happened to the Topic, perhaps like Marathon they have been rebranded.

I do find a Snickers Bar quite comforting at sea when the blood sugar gets low but it is a stupid name. Do fellow sojourners have chocolate related stories to contribute

I once heard a story about Marianne Faithfull and a Mars bar which would be quite a comforting thought at sea but I've forgotten what it is.

I have been invited to phone my Doctors Receptionist about the small matter of a possibility that I may be developing glucose intolerance.
This would sadly curtail my wholsale consumption of chocolate, and thus there would have to be a fire sale of chocolate from Full Circles cavernous choccy mine.

I therefore decline to take part in this somewhat painful thread any further.

I must admit that I have bags of the small mars bars and milky way's while at sea. When I'm home, I never bother much with chocolate, but at sea . . . . .

If you are diabetic, the good news is that chocolate is actually quite a good energy source with the fat and sugar combination simulating low GI food

I'm surprised, given your alleged location. I would have though every visit to your fine vessel would bring that old tale back to mind.
