Dementia Clinics

Post by claymore »

I see the Government in their wisdom are planning the above.

On the one hand, I suppose its somewhere we can all keep in touch once we've forgotten how to log on. On a more serious note, an example of how they may help is in encouraging people with dementia to put their keys in the same place so that they will know where they are.

What an absolute load of bowlocks - one fundamental point is that when you have dementia you cannot fekking remember where the keys are....

Respectfully, I'm afraid you may have missed the point. The advice should be to everyone to put their keys in the same place so that once they get dementia they will know instinctively where their keys are. By way of illustration: a couple in the habit of keeping their boat key in a particular place in their car set off on the 3 hour journey to their boat only to find halfway up the road that they had no boat key. They instictively knew where the keys should be but one of them had failed to return them to this place. Fortunately the dementia hasn't taken hold yet so there's time to relearn the habit so this doesn't happen again.

My Good Woman
From mine eyes are the scales fallen - I am indebted and again I find myself in awe and wonder of your fine self and not a little jealous of he of the FA Cup Profile in having the honour and delight of your extended company.

My Mother did in fact live in the same dwelling for approximately 30 years. For at least 25 of those years she was a disciplined as could be regarding things in their places. Sadly as Dementia took its hold on her, this counted for little. Indeed I became chilled on a number of occasions as I stood on her doorstep on winters evening's, waiting to be let in, whilst she went off and searched for the said keys.
She would not allow me my own key as she didn't trust me not to lose it.
Speaking of your own experience, I trust it was a pleasant day and the extended journey was a pleasurable one with no ill-will nor sensations of malice prevailing?

All this really demonstrates the need for multiple keys.
Possibly the number of said keys may be indirectly proportional to the number of active braincells available at any one time.
Suffice to say there are 4 for Sahona, and I know where 3 of them are.

I'm wondering if this might not have some applications for some of us, boaty or otherwise.

I do believe so.
However, I feel the problem is deeper rooted that Mme Shard's technical limitations - BFG certainly likes us to believe the Family Shard to be subscribers to the Observer and Guardian - I feel he must be a little downcast that the cat is now firmly out of the bag and we know that in fact the Mail is their particular preferred rag.

So - a crack, who knows what chasms lurk behind closed doors?

All we need now is for the TAASC to pop into Mme Shard's post and add the missing / . She can then gain the moral high ground by claiming that the link always worked, and maybe the fault lay with Monsieur Shard.
