My daughter tells me that Blackboards are now Chalkboards. Presumably this was
brought about by PC Brigade. It really is getting beyond belief.

Just searched several online Scottish dictionaries but failed to come up with anything relevant about the use of black in this way which seems like a bit of an omission on the part of the lexicographers. Another phrase I'm familiar with (from my auntie in Shetland) is black fantin' meaning fainting with hunger. The Shetlanders have a whole raft of wonderful expressions all their own.

I think Julian might be referring to that class of post in TOP which runs along the general lines of "Look at this nonsense - society has gone mad (harrumph/whinge) and it's all the fault of..." Usually from the kind of poster who is unable to comprehend a state of affairs which is neither black nor white.

We all take the p*ss out off political correctness and sometimes it shows up the prejudice in some people. However its, in my view quite dangerous.

I am not, never have been never will be, racist. I am not never have been, never will be sexist, or xenophobic or homophobic or any other phobic, but the politically correct and the need to show that every program or advert on TV contains a black or a woman or a gay, annoys me.

So what is it doing to the Bigot. It certainly can't be helping to undermine bigotry.
