Kathy completed her Day Skipper today after a day out sailing onto moorings, anchors, men overboard etc on a 40ft Westerly ketch. She didn't let me crew for her - I stayed at home bashing the keyboard as usual and failed to do any work on Fairwinds.
For those who don't know the previous, Kathy went on a Sunsail Dazed Kipper course she won in a competition. The instructor had never run an RYA course before (usually skippering a Sail Training ship with Yoofs). He spent most of the time just sailing around, took them on an all-night night sail on the last night then gave them a sort of mini-exam in the morning when Kathy was shattered. She got signed off on everything but boat handling under sail, which anyone who has seen her on the helm will realise is a bit strange.
Anyway, sorted now. I am running my first ever Dazed Kipper course myself next week, so fingers crossed I do better . . .
Good news . . .

Tell Kathy Well done and congratulationsNick wrote:Kathy completed her Day Skipper today
Can understand why she wouldn't want her usual skipper as crew - too easy for both of you to revert to usual roles.
Hope it goes well.Nick wrote: I am running my first ever Dazed Kipper course myself next week, so fingers crossed I do better . . .
