I am considering return from carib a bit early and tearing straight from azores via um irish sea inshore(?) to scotland, thereby saving a trillion quid in london-scotland car fuel bills, and three trillion quid in boat hire bills.
All advice/naysaying invited, ta.

Go for it . . .
.
It would be fantastic to see Mojomo in Scottish waters, but Azores - Ireland in April could be a bit gnarly. Just make sure your GRIB data is good and be prepared to steer round / hang about to avoid the worst weather. Knowing your luck lack of diesel will be your worst problem tho' . . .
Coming up the Irish Sea is a doddle in a fastish boat - there are opportunities to cheat the tide and get from eg Dunmore East to Oban in four or five days nae problem, but you can always stop off in Dublin for a laugh.
Just one eensy weensie prob - you might like it too much and hang around all Summer . . . .

I'll vouch for that, as we used to travel from Sligo to Enniskillen on Gf for a skinful, and on one such occasion, I got arrested at gunpoint by the RUC for careless driving (boy racer days) between Eskn and Blacklion, but managed to get off with a small fine, though it was scarey having a WPC pointing a revolver at my head, "brown cordaroy time"Ocklepoint wrote:If you re coming up the Irish Sea in April..........................BEWARE
In the Republic of Ireland(on the whole a pleasant place) you cannot buy a drink on Good Friday.
Easter Sunday is 12th April so avoid Ireland on the 10th.
I speak from painful experience.

You might be well advised to carry on to north of the border if its a pint you are after on Gf, or you could always give it up for lent.
