5 row button non-diatonic accordion
I've recently bought one of these to go with my collection of small pipes, big pipes, bigger pipes, whistles, and spoons. Does anyone else have one & what are they like as ballast? What are CC jamming sessions like? Anyone recorded one? Yours in 5 row button hell,

Oh Christ - let's end this thread here! Actually, on second thoughts, I wouldn't be out of place. What's more worrying (apart from the wind which is trying to rip my house apart and I dread to think what it's doing to the boat) is that the only forumite I have met is Claysie who came aboard for a couple of drams in Tobermory - and I don't recognise him in the video! Mind you, it was dark...

Agree with Sgeir. Spent a crackin' night in the company of one, and it was nothing like wot you have just heard - that was Boobies fault, honest!

Are these acccordians worth anything?Shuggy wrote:I've recently bought one of these to go with my collection of small pipes, big pipes, bigger pipes, whistles, and spoons. I was given one a couple of years ago by a friend who had it in his attic for a good few years and wanted rid of it, but after having it for a while without been able to attach 2 cords together I felt it only proper to give it back to him as it had belonged to his father and I dident have a use for it.
I believe it is back in his attic now.
Incidently have any of you heard of an accordianist called Gordon Young?
Gordon is a friend of mine, and a professional muscisian, I will try to get him to the Clyde meet up as he would be great entertainment for a night or two.

Eamonn
They are indeed worth something - I had to pay £300 for my dodgy continental model and new (cheap) ones are about £900. They seem to fly off eBay; the only reason I got mine so cheaply was that I bought it off a bloke in Malta and I think it put most bidders off.
Mine looks a bit like this.
Have a scout around and see what I mean. I'm back to the age-old problem of (not) being able to co-ordinate my left and right hands. But I'm getting better...
Here's to a noisy New Year!

Ah, that looks more like a Jimmy shand job. I was thinking of a traditional hexagonal squeezebox.

Ian, that is overly generous of you, not wanting to give my mate Gordon a showing up.Booby Trapper wrote:If there are any professional musicians going count me out.Clyde_Wanderer wrote:Incidently have any of you heard of an accordianist called Gordon Young?Shuggy wrote:I've recently bought one of these to go with my collection of small pipes, big pipes, bigger pipes, whistles, and spoons.
