I'm thinking of buying a friend of mine a SatNav system for his boat. The only thing is that I know very very little about either them or sailing in general.
He lives in NI and sails back and forth to Scotland and England, generally around the British Isles and Ireland, although I think he may venture further if he got a good system.
Are PDA's any good for this and if so is there a programme with all the relevant mapping? Or is it better to buy an all in one.
Any ideas and/or suggestions will be most welcome. Also what sort of price am I looking at?
Many Thanks
SatNav

Satnav and PDAs
Have a look at this month's Yachting Monthly - it has a good article on Satnav and PDAs. It's certainly changed my view - I'll be buying a PDA and integral GPS rather than a chart plotter if I c an ever afford one.
