The 'What's On' page has now been updated to include most of the major events of 2009 for which information is already available. More will be added as the information becomes available.

If you know of others that should be included please send me the info.

I wasn't going to put it in the calendar as I thought we would be keeping it loosely invitation only, but what do the team think??

It depends on who gets an invite.

If it's invite only, maybe it shouldn't be so public as them that don't get one may or may not be happy.

i think you might be deluding your self if you think CC09 can be kept secret on this forum.

why don`t you adopt the alternative approach to secrecy ?

It didn't occur to me that it could be kept secret on the forum, and I would say that by definition anyone who is a member of the forum has a standing invitation. If folk are agreed on the date then we can re-open the CC forum for the 2009 event forthwith in fact.

There are a lot of visitors to the rest of the site who aren't forum members though and if you type sailing events calendar into Google the events calendar page on this site comes up third (or 6th if you count paid entries) - so anyone could arrive there , see the CC advertised alongside the ARC and decide to come along without ever having had to show themselves to us via the forum.

If you have your own boat in the area (or can get it there, Bob) then you invite yourself along and that's that. If you can't get your boat in the right place at the right time you can still invite yourself but it's then subject to a suitable berth being available, obviously.

you could put " by invitation only " on the notice, rule that only forum members of not less than six months standing and having not less than 10 posts ( or who have been on a previous cc ) are eligible. that should contain the possible entry list to the current membership.

altho` as i seem to recall, the problem in the past has been more to do with getting the numbers up, rather than limiting the entry

Thanks Silkie, but maybe I should be a bit more specific with my questions.
Which side of the Kintyre penenusla are we talking about the cc taking place then?

Hi Eamonn. The CC is an 'out west' experience, so Oban - Tobermory area.
Our 'scuttlebutt' cruise came about ( I think) because the CC is early in the season, and we wouldn't have our fine ships out and round the bend by then.
Another difference may be the prowess of the chentlemen vis-a-vis the ability to process excisable fluids, however, we seem to be improving.
I really don't want to mention the music - sorry, noise.
