Service Station LED Torches and Headlamps (for yer head)
Service Station LED Torches and Headlamps (for yer head)
We bought four LED head lamp sets - the ones that take 3 AAA batteries - this past summer at the local Esso Garage. Think they were less than £3 each.
With rechargeable AAA's we found these incredibly useful on our past winters cruise.
The LEDS used so little power the AAA's did not need recharging until 20+ nights of continual use - and with one a piece on our heads - it saved all the fumbling in a dark cockpit trying to located a needed torch.
Its something others might consider copying.

How did you manage to find them useful on your last winters cruise when you only bought them this summer?Swagman wrote:We bought four LED head lamp sets - the ones that take 3 AAA batteries - this past summer at the local Esso Garage. Think they were less than £3 each.

I got one of them wind up head torches for Chrimbo last year, it's dead good. It keeps me warm too, I can manage about a minute winding before I get fed up/tired and that lasts about, well I never timed it but would guess an hour. It supliments the oil lamp nicely for reading in an evening.
Seminole.

Well said dudelady_stormrider wrote:I also have a wind-up torch from Aldi - if you are arriving on a boat in the dark a wind-up head light and a torch are excellent to climb aboard the boat and find the storm lantern (and matches).

It should must carry some flashlights or torch lights and some matches as well when arriving in a boat in the dark.
