Scan Your User Manuals

Post by Rowana »

My tip is this -

Scan the user manuals for all your equipment into your computer.

When the originals that you keep on board get soaked (Don't ask), or get oily prints all over them, you can just print out another pristine copy.

Also helps when you need to look up something at home, and the originals are on the boat.

AND - you could offer them to the downloads section on this site if they're popular.

Cruising, racing, maintenance facilities. Go take a look, you know you want to.

.
If you are willing to offer them to the general Bluemomenting public then I would be delighted to add them to the existing Downloads section on the site - email me them and I will put them up, but send them one file at a time to avoid email overload.

(Or, if you have an FTP client I can send you FTP details)

Scans

Post by ash »

The only one which I currently have scanned is

Seafarer 501.

I first scanned it for SBC, but have been surprised by the number of people who have emailed me asking for a copy - the power of google.

BTW - what resolution do peeps scan at? I think that I probably use too high a dpi setting - doesn't matter too much if I'm saving as a PDF - other than slowing down the actual scan.

BTW - I keep all my boat paperwork in a small briefcase which I carry back and forth between home and boat - mind you - I've been known to forget to take it up to the boat!

More than happy to offer them to the Bluemoment falourm users. They are all now pdf files, so if you PM me with your email address, I'll send them to you, or if you prefer, I can bung them on a disk and send it snail mail.

Cheers
