Hello again,

You will be forgiven for thinking October has arrived early on Saturday as heavy rain and strong winds sweep eastwards through the country. Sunday should be better, and staying breezy too.

Don’t forget that the latest forecasts are also online at Weatherweb.TV and if you need something to do on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon, why not learn more about the weather by watching our Learning Channel?

If you want to receive this forecast by email each week, send a blank email to sailingweather-subscribe@weatherweb.net

Best wishes,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 0900 Friday 8th August 2008

SATURDAY:
A set of fronts are going to be sweeping eastwards through the country during Saturday, with a deep area of low pressure to the west of Scotland.
Heavy periods of rain are expected to be associated with these fronts, especially through more northern and western areas. It is likely that the far southeast of England is going to be staying dry until the early afternoon, and that the rain here is going to be lighter and more patchy when it arrives.
As the day progresses and the cold front moves eastwards through Ireland , drirer weather should move through here, perhaps reaching western Wales, southwest Scotland and northwest England by the evening.
A windy day with those winds to gale force over parts of Wales, southwest England and Ireland.
Winds will be SW 20 gusting 35kt (F6 gustig F8) as the warm front moves through, perhaps 35kt (F8) over the southwestern quarter of the country. Mainly SE 15-20kt (F4-F5) at first in Scotland, veering later.

SUNDAY:
The area of low pressure remains to the west of Scotland during Sunday. The cold front is going to be clearing slowly southeastwards, but it may well become stuck over the far southeast of England and through northern France bringing more periods of rain here.
So for southeast England the day is likely to be staying clouidy with some more outbreaks of rain at times. This will be light overall, but an increasing threat of some heavier brusts moving through as the day progresses.
Western parts of Scotland and Ireland will be staying breezy with showers, some of them heavy at times and bringing the risk of a thunderstorm here and there too.
For the rest of the country the day should be dier with sunny spells. There will be some showers here and there although these are only going to be light and will pass through quickly.
Winds will be generally SW 15-20kt (F4-F5), but S-SW 20-25kt (F6) over the irish Sea and southern Ireland, perhaps picking up to 30kt (F7) here later. Winds through Scotland will be more S-SSW 15kt (f4) but perhaps 20kt (F5) in the west.
