West Highland Week

.
Here's a pic of some of the boats in the feeder race from Craobh to Oban today as they came past Easdale.

Has anyone done this and is it only for hard core racers?

I've never done it, but I believe that many families do it - more in a cruise mode than race mode.

My experience of West Island week has suggested its more of a hard drinking week than a hard racing week, lager louts abound.
We can't change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.

I've done West Highland Week on a hard core racing boat, and thoroughly enjoying it as a competitive event. I've also seen others, as mentioned by a previous poster, taking the pace as more of a competitive cruise. The fact that the regatta offers non-spinnaker classes is testament to that. I know of one boat this year with 2 adults and 5 kids - brilliant! Seems eveyone is happy. Of course, a fair bit is drunk over the week. Loutish or just Loud?
