Darwinian experiment in the Oban fog

Post by Telo »

I'm very pleased to hear that your friend has now paid up.

We had a similar experience, arriving one evening long after the office had closed, and leaving early next morning under a cloak of thick fog. A bizarre experience, as we'd left ten minutes after another boat who must have been gamboling about like lost lambs because they suddenly appeared on our stern going rather faster than I thought was good for them in the murky conditions.

We thought it wise to let them pass and decided to follow them out of Oban's north channel, our theory being that if they ran into anything ahead of us, then we could probably slow down sufficiently to avoid serious mishap, and be able to provide immediate assistance should that prove necessary.

Anyway we emailed the company that day, and your post reminded me to check, but they hadn't come back to us. I've today paid by card over the phone. Compared to Tobermory, the facilities, including the free taxi service are good value, so I don't grudge it.

Hmmm
Is this related to the "Eloise, please furl your ensign as we are lost and cannot see where we should be going without your stern light to guide us" incident?
