WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 1200 Friday 18th April 2008

SATURDAY:
Pressure remains fairly high through most of England and Wales on Saturday. A front becomes almost stationary, extending from western Scotland through eastern parts of Ireland.
There will be a fair amount of cloud across England and eastern Wales on Saturday morning, with some mist too. The cloud is likely to be breaking with some sunny spells coming through, making for a fair afternoon. Feeling very warm too.
For western Wales, parts of southwest England and northwest England there will be extensive low cloud and a risk of some mist covering the coasts. Little change here through the day.
More persistent rain through northern and western Scotland, as well as Ireland. Some of this rain could turn heavy at times, with brighter weather following to western Ireland later. The rain moves southeastwards through Scotland in the afternoon.
Winds will be mainly S-SSW 8-12kt (F3-F4) over England, S-SW 15-20kt (f5) over western Wales and western England as well as western Scotland. Eastern and northern Scotland will be S-SW 15-20kt (F5).

SUNDAY:
An active front affecting much of England and eastern England, moving eastwards through the day. A weak ridge of high pressure follows from the west, ahead of a cold front approaching western Ireland later.
Some heavy periods of rain over east Anglia and the southeast of England at first. This clearing eastwards, with more showery weather then following from the west. A few of the showers could be heavy.
Scattered showers across Scotland, but sunny spells too.
Some thicker cloud and more persistent rain or showers moving through western and southern Ireland in the afternoon.
Winds will be S-SW 12-15kt (F4) ahead of the front, becoming WSW 5-10kt (F3) behind it, but WSW 15-20kt (F5) through the English Channel. Lighter winds across Ireland and northern England and Scotland at 5-10kt (F3).
