I Hate Painting!
Just spent the the last five days painting, decks, coachroof, cockpit and antifouling oh, and replacing windows. Back in on Wednesday, still to do: engine check, polish topsides, mark anchor chain, complete repair to taffrail capping, tidy up the inside which is a complete mess! Jobs to complete afl...

Re: How my boat has shrunk
The largest boat I have sailed was a Sadler Barracuda, 45ft I think, I remember it was quick! Likewise I could justify owning a boat of this size. I do all my own maintenance etc and decided some time ago that 32ft was about the maximum I could maintain on my own and still have time for sailing. My ...

Re: Stonemouth
I guess it's like all these things - bits of it were filmed in different locations, depending on the needs of the production. Mr Google says Macduff (I thought he was the Thane of Fife? :)) but presumably that was for the scenes set in the Town itself, with the waterfront stuff done elsewhere. Wull...

Re: LED conversion
They look good. I tried the link but they do ship to UK! Will delve a bit further. I This winter I have replaced all my nav lights with LED lamps bought from here: http://www.boatlamps.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d104.html. Changed the Tri and anchor, front bi and stern. They look good when on. Hopefully t...

Feeling Guilty
Boat hauled out and mast removed late November, due to relaunch late March, long to do list of which I have done nothing, not even been back to the yard! Feeling guilty about those weekends wasted watching football, going to the pub etc, so my one and only New Year resolution is to at least make a s...

Re: Yachts on moorings - etiquette
Don't disagree with that. Sometimes when I leave my tender on the mooring if out for the day I have returned to find the painter wrapped round the mooring riser, especially if breezy! Can be a paint to unwind!

Re: Yachts on moorings - etiquette
As a fellow R32 owner (not that its relevant!) heres my thoughts. I would have picked it up and left it in the cockpit if it was safe and convenient to do so. Don't think I would have bothered with a note. Be convenient I mean that as I often sail single handed if I had full sail up I doubt if I wou...

Re: Englandshire survives
Quite right. Living in Kent, at the forefront weather apocalypse, I have been unable to get a train into work today as there were twigs, sorry, trees, on the tracks so have had to work from home. My clearly too tall silver birches are still upright, the power is on and I believe my boat is still afl...

Re: What Is A Decent Sort of Blog Thing For Pictures and Not
I am planning on on a similar refit over this winter, first proper one in the five years I have owned the boat. I will be equally happy to post photos as for the information of others.

Re: Shouldn't someone tell them.........
No she was really towed stern first. She was alongside HMS Belfast facing upriver. I don't think they turn them in the pool anymore since one unlucky RN type managed to lay his ship alongside London Bridge. I work not far from Tower Bridge and have seen several Navy vessels leave, all of them towed ...

They may be facing the wrong way but they are going in the right direction. They are towed out stern first!

Re: HELP NEEDED FOR MSc Studies
Survey completed. I also use a laptop rather than a chartplotter, but one is on the wishlist! Mainly use GPS and paper charts though as battery life on the laptop is rubbish.
