Mobile Comms on the West Coast; service deterioration?

Has anyone else noticed any deterioration of service? Vodafone seems very patchy now with, at best, weak GPRS signals. More to the point, the EE service is now non-existent in areas where the old T-Mobile signals were strong eg Sound of Mull.
When T-Mobile teamed up with Orange to form EE, there was an expectation that the combined network would offer better access, especially in remote areas. I had a data subscription with T-Mobile for years, but, with EE, there doesn't seem much point if I'm paying for a poorer service.
I have a PAYG subscription with O2 but don't use them anymore as their incorrect shop records have my phone/card listed as being someone in the Midlands.
What's the best data service on The West?

I switched from Orange/EE to BT Mobile - it seems fine. Dear Heart always had a better signal with vodaphone but we haven't tried it for a while

Aye, would have been us; heard a call to the fishing boat before we saw it and yourselves. We'd been in some very thick mist/drizzle earlier, not pleasant. Had to motor most of the way as the wind died off Muck. Anchored up at Kilchoan for a snooze, the a good sail in warm sunshine down to Ardtornish Bay for wir tea.
EE signal in Ardtornish and the Sound is fine now. Wonder if one of their cells was on the blink last week.

Not a pleasant day to be out. Turned brighter when we got to Oransay. No signal there and not much more here in Portree. Probably as far as we get before heading south. Bit of a blow forecast for end of week. Will make for somewhere a bit further down I think.

Just suffered 3 days in Tob. Wild wet and windy and that was just the weather. Escaped and heading south. Hopefully till the butter melts. Unlikely....

Sailing from Rum to Ardtornish last week, I could "see my breath" for much of the morning,. More like March or October. Got a lot better in the afternoon.

Well, in that case, have you checked out the food at the Hamersay House hotel? We had a great meal there a few years ago when it was the Tigh Dearg. Suppose it's changed hands.

Back on subject, we've really struggled with data on O2 this year. It does seem worse than in previous years.
In Tob for example you get a data connection but it is only usable early morning or late at night. Seems that during the day the data bandwidth is all used up..
Coll now has 4G on Vodafone by the way. The only downside is that it seems to have obliterated the O2 signal there. There's a notice pinned up by the post office saying 'nowt to do with us (Voda), you need to speak to O2'
