Right.

I have rescued/reinstated the entire YotBlog site, exported Claymore's blog as an XML file, set up an account for him on Wordpress.com and imported the file.

Claymore's blog is now at https://claymore2015.wordpress.com/

The whole process took less than an hour.

If the rest of you want to save your blogs I suggest you do the same.

~ Go to your dashboard on your YotBlog site and select Export from Settings.
~ Export everything as an XML file - save it somewhere on your computer where you will be able to find it again.
~ Set up a free site in Wordpress.com
~ Verify your email address and import the file.
~ Job done.

Most of you will manage this nae bother. Any snagettes drop me a line. Please let me know when you have done this and I will - finally - remove YotBlog from the server.

Beautiful Nick - thank you. I did try to follow your instructions in the OP yesterday but couldn't find an export option in my settings.

I'm beginning to think I'll have to re-start the blog this year but it's not so easy to find things to write about as it was in the early days when it was all new to me and I could wax long and lyrical (and inexpertly) about everyday sailing matters. After all you can only write once about your first experience of single-handed anchoring under sail.

The site made for Claymore looks great - WordPress seems to have cornered the market for blogging.

Really enjoyed reading about Silkie's dolphin experience also. Have obviously had our fair share of cetacean encounters but never for as long as that.

The big question is whether Nick's act of altruism will stimulate renewed activity in the two blogs in question. The Tidal Gate data will come in useful for me I am sure so thank you for that Nick .

In an act of New Year enthusiasm I have just purchased a small action camera which I intend to use to produce a multi-media type blog of this year's messing around in Storyline. Did it for the first time this year and it takes quite a long time (2 or 3 evenings) to edit the footage even fairly crudely so it was a shame that the raw material I was dealing with was of poor quality being taken mainly on our mobile phones. Am sure no one will make it to the end as even with the vast majority ending up on the cutting room floor the video lasts over 20 minutes !

(Have done quite a lot of research on these new type of action cameras which are GoPro clones. Very, very cheap with incredibly high quality pictures and can be mounted easily on a boat. Anyone wanting to know which one I chose and why please just ask).

Thanks Nick. I did try to follow the DIY instructions, but got into a right fankle which involved paying for a "Windows repair package" and all sorts of other hassle.

All I need to do now is work out how to update it...
