Ra Chentleman's Cruise 2014

Just sat in an incredibly uninteresting meeting and my thoughts have wandered to matters boatie.
I become a retired person on Friday 3rd May and this would normally be the start day for the CC.
As we all know, of late we have encountered inclement conditions and I wonder if I might make so bold as to propose the late May Bank Holiday - or Whitsuntide as I prefer to call it - as an alternative date.
The relevance of my retirement is that I am going to wait until the weather warms up a bit before I antifoul and launch in 2014 so am not thinking we will be back in by 3rd May. My Employers have also nailed me down and I have a number of commitments leading right up to my departure.

Yes. The weather can be crap but any time, but waiting two or three weeks should improve the odds for better conditions. Sounds like a sensible suggestion. Trying to head into a 7 down the Lynn of Lorn wasn't much fun....

That seems like a good plan. I am hoping that Cherry Ripe will be adding her strength to the fleet for the first time next year. Shouldn't it be Chentlemen's but?

Chentleman's cruise implies a cruise for a collection of Individual Chentlemans - dont you think?

We aim to have our big cruise at Spring Bank/Whitsuntide/Late May holiday so will probably be out and about round then too.

17 May - 31 May. This period is known as the fore-monsoon, traditionally dry and warm with high pressure over the UK and continent.

Whitsunday is 15th May in Scotland (Term and Quarter Days (Scotland) Act 1990) but liturgically 8th June sowf of the border (7th Sunday after Easter), Edinburgh has Victoria Day on 19th May (but nowt on 26th May), Scottish Series is 23rd-26th May - but I don't care 'cos my wee girl is getting wed on the 24th and apparently my presence is required.

I dunno. I am thrown into confusion. It was Claymore, as I recollect, who suggested a later date and so perhaps it now behoves him to suggest an actual date. I already have the last fortnight in May booked as holiday so it may be that I will be elsewhere at the time.

Seems too good an opportunity to miss.
