Only a suggestion ... but! ... might it not be a reasonable suggestion / idea to have regional groups play host (offer spare berths on their respective boats) to those out of the immediate area?
I know we / some do this already .... but! (once again!) ... it would be good to give this a push and generate a positive social aspect to the sailing season ..... what say you all?

.
I think it is a great idea.
I am sure a Chent somewhere can find you a berth on the Chentleman's Cruise next year as a starter, with the Clyde Scuttlebutt cruise as an obvious chance for reciprocation.

I am of the vegetarian tendency so buger the butcher. I sing like a lark, retiring from education, I never want to meet another teacher and as for the cleric, my Father was a parson

I was about to say "Good luck with finding crew for a 23'er" when I recollected that Nick (with Garedfox) has sailed with me and was prepared to do it again although he did try to drown us both on the second occasion. Thinking on, I find that although I don't get many volunteers more than half have come back for more which is broadly in line with the proportion of other people's boats that I would sail on again.

Hey Mr Smooth(e) ....
I rarely have any problems finding crew .... in-fact there have often been comments such as "you're NOT all sleeping on there ... are you!?"
And! ... "I don't envy anyone sleeping on there after you-lot have had a night on the beer & curry" ...

John when are you going to admit its a tub not a sub youve got and encourage your crew to sleep side by side not under and over.
Looking for crew myself at mo, but must be prepared to scrape, rub, sand, wash, antifoul, varnish, buff, and wax, before I offer them a bit of reduced cost sailing!
Scrouge.
