Boat Buddys (sic)

I came across this scheme on TOP and thought that it might be of interest to some on here: http://www.boatbuddys.co.uk/

Personally I think their spelling is wrong, but maybe I'm a PAG (pedantic auld git). :D

£25 a year membership does seem a bit steep, though. It occurs to me that much of the functionality could be achieved by just adding a couple more "classified" headings to the forum since it's really quite similar to "want crew" and "want boat". Any thoughts, Nick?

I don't see any problem with adding a new heading to the forums for folk that want to discuss this, but I don't think BM gets enough traffic to make it worthwhile. And I certainly wouldn't want to be prescriptive - or even descriptive - about the details of any mutually beneficial arrangements.

What do other folk think?

I think the idea is a good one. When I read the BB site it struck me as something I could use; come sailing but clean my boat when I am not there. The Rival gets bogging when I am away from home and I am always scrubbing away these days. Having said that I am not so sure if it would be worth while adding anything here. The Rival Owners Association crew finder bit has very low traffic, true it's a single issue forum so not likely to attract outsiders anyway. For me it would probably be better if I advertised at the marina, rather than a forum. You get a better class of psycho from the general public.

Sounds a bit like Troon Cruising club with formality to me. I guess it could be useful in the somewhat sterile atmosphere of a marina where people often don't communicate with each other. (just a parking place for boats)
Where do all the 25quids go......ha ha perhaps they could be used to revamp the site so there was more information and less page turning. Yep Dave, I thought it should be Buddies as well.
I don't think he would like BM to open in competition unless the "yes" vote dictates we have to find someone to do it for Scottish-based/registered/taxed/governed boats.
