Having looked at the synoptic chart I would be wary of the cold and warm fronts forming secondary depressions.

Anyway, Nick, or anyone else that's about, we're presently anchored up in Duart Bay after a really good sail down the Lynn of Morvern, top end of a 5 most of the way. We're hoping to meet up with Kieta of the Sesh Ceilidh Cruise some time next week, maybe around Muck.

As Minnie Shard told when she was about ten, ye Canna Muck about wi' Eigg and Rum.

To save you the trouble you could donate the GPS to me and I'll handle the RNLI since my handheld expired in the last few hundred yards of my cruise while entering Shuna Sound.

PS - the forsiktig is a gift since it only cost washers in the first place and I also took my staff discount and so would be sacked if I accepted money for it.

PPS - the Venerable Honda expired as I arrived at Dallens Bay a fortnight ago (no fault of the manufacturer with only 150k on the clock but the result of an amateur repair last year) so if anyone has a cheap car for sale do please get in touch.

I'd volunteered to take Derek's old Garmin 128 off his hands as our 128's anchor drag alarm had stopped working, but, in the way that these things work, it is now fully operable again. So, yes, you can have it - you'll need a GPS antenna to plug into it.

Heard about the car but didn't want to mention it; bit of a bummer to say the least.

Meanwhile, here in Duart Bay, woken by the alarm at 0600 as planned to catch the tide going up the Sound. No wind, just an almost surreal flat calm. There's a slight zephyr at the moment, but less wind than one might normally find in a bottle of Irn Bru. Having donated a lot of diesel at the alter of Count von Eberspacher already this year, I feel a bit reluctant about motoring......

Going back to Nick's original point, doesn't look like much wind for several days.

Just kidding really and anyway I don't have room for a fixed GPS but thanks for the offer.

What wondrous modern technology is the good ship Shard using to maintain internet communications from places like Duart ? Are you still uising a Vodaphone dongle or something similar, and what is the deal these days? Or have you gone over to the dark side with a smartphone? My old dongle expired a long time ago and we are entirely dependent on WiFi these days. I need to do better.

Bung a data sim in yer ipad? EE get the best rep for coverage on 3G- got nuthin down south but it'll hopefull be better oop north.
