Not that it will interest all of the west coast oriented bods...
There is renewed interest in developing a marina at Stonehaven. It's been talked about locally for years, since the coast here is pretty exposed, and not very yacht friendly.
It would make a very picturesque location for a marina - and boost the presence of the harbour considerably. And provide somewhere to stop between Arbroath and Peterhead!

I do hope it comes to fruition. It would make a nice wee jaunt frae Peterheid!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would come down for wee wekend sail.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Even the inner harbour gets a battering in a good blow so it would not be somewhere id leave a boat

I don't think the plans have been out in public yet, though I would have thought a storm gate was probably a must for the location, if they are serious.. The old inner harbour is reasonably safe already, but the other, more Northerly half is pretty exposed. Nobody leaves anything there outside the "summer" period.
The nearest harbour South (Gourdon) has a storm gate, and that sees a fair amount of use! That unfortunately dries out almost completely.
A good few thousand tons of sand would need to be pumped out of Stonehaven to make 2m at LW as well.
Once the plans emerge some more comment can be made.
