The boy and I are sailing our Wayfarer "Cirrus" (topically an ex outdoor centre boat - Benmore) to Millport tomorrow from the slip just before Largs Yacht Haven. If you are out and about and see a pale blue hulled dingy manned by a stick insect (with unfeasibly long arms a la gibbon style) and the Michelin Man (both in black) do shout ahoy (or starboard). We may or may not be arguing about balance and trim.

I am very much looking forward to it. Its been a while since I have dinghy sailed on the Clyde. I'll have my camera so can take photos of your fine vessels.

Enjoy your sail. We only came down to the boat tonight. Not sure that we'll be as far S as you. We hope to meet up with someone in Kip, and then sail across to Rothesay. Just found out that it's the Jazz Festival. We would be the white hulled Vega sailing under Genoa only coz I haven't refitted the boom / main yet!

I am knackered. A great sail, blustery, wet and a bit cold but fun. I used to dinghy sail a lot on the Clyde in my youth, so it was good to be back doing that again.

I lost one of the launching trolley wheels in one of the M8 pot holes. I should have taken them off as they are only held on with R Clips - its a combination road/launching trailer in case anyone was thinking I was whizzing along the M8 on plastic hub wheels!

looks nice and sheltered up the Clyde, you would certainly have exercised the six-pack if you'd been South of the Ardrossan triangle yesterday.

It was windy enough to hike out and I am feeling it today. The camera was out in calmer conditions. We got a taste of the swell at Ardrossan just off the east side of the bay at Millport where the lower FOC swell usually reaches unimpeded when its from the south. Later over at the west side we had great reaching conditions in flat water, being protected from the swell by Little Cumbrae. The wind strength is always up a notch or two here as it funnels around the cliffs.

I am so unfit! Pulling the dinghy over the sand on the launching trolley and then up the old public slip at Largs Marina public car park (not Largs Yacht Club or the new public slip which was closed) was a chest heaving, shortness of breath spectacle. Not the sort of knee trembler one wants!

Your tale makes me feel less sad about selling our Wayfarer last back end. She went to a good home in Plockton - a young family buying their first boat. Having said that I was also absolutely knackered on Saturday night having sanded down the boat and then anti-fouled her right away - we beat Sunday's rain but Lord did I suffer.

We have taken the plunge and moved from a swinging mooring at Rosneath to Kip - so if anyone sees an elderly white Centaur with green dodgers etc Called Calandra - give us a hail .

I still sail dinghies as well as the big boat, and I reckon sailing both improves my boat / sail handling of all the boats involved. Last week-end I sailed my RS Vareo, in most of 15-18 Kts, managed not to fall over (and made joint 1st in our "Spring Handicap" ) This week it was the club's aged but quite quick 420, with swmbo. Equally good fun.
We took the Vareo over to Ardminish from Tayinloan for the week-end a couple of years ago, wetsuits & drybags. Great idea. Caused endless hilarity among yachts and at the campsite going ashore !
It just put me in the mood for more adventurous small boat trips...
