Is it a requirement to have a licence to put down a couple Lobster pots for personal consumption in and around the Firth of Clyde?

I believe you can put down up to six without a license.

I've sometimes wondered about getting one of these collapsible ones and attaching it to the anchor chain. Anyone tried this?

Suitable only for very benign conditions, I don't think a lobster pot will set well at all.
I would stick with an anchor.

Not aware of any licence problems where they are take for personal consumption, but there may be issues about ensuring that only mature lobsters are taken. Suggest you check on how to estimate that.
We've carried a collapsible pot for years but never used it as we don't have a cooking pot on board that would be big enough to cook a lobster.

Grill it- no need for a pot.
Wully's lobby recipe:
Sharpen a great big fu
cker of a knife. Place lobby facing away from you right side up on chopping board. Just behind the victims eyes there is a cross in the shell on top of it's head. Line the blade of the GBF knife with the cutting edge facing to the front of the lobster. Drive the knife down through the lobster and cut forward so that the whole lobster is cut in half from the point of insertion. Turn the knife round and continue the cut to the rear of the beastie.
Rinse the gooey bits and the blood off the corpse.
Baste the flesh in liberal quantities of garlic butter and grill under a medium grill.
Not sure if this is a more 'humane' way to off yer supper or not. If at home shove the lobby in the freezer for 3/4 of an hour before offing him- seems to calm them right down.
