Forth and Clyde Canal Transit By Wayfarer Dinghy

I fancy transiting the canal in my Wayfarer. I have a small outboard (and oars) for the tunnel sections and locks. Do you think this is a good idea or will I likely get chibbed on transit.
It would require an overnight stay (or just a bus back to my Mums) are there secure areas to leave the dinghy or suitable fields to camp in that will not be overrun by scheme zombies at night? I notice that there are a couple of slips on the canal has anyone used them? Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Alastair
