Find the Lady

Once upon a time, in a land quite near, lived a beautiful young princess who had already met her Prince Charming. Together, they sealed their troth (whatever that means), first with a Contessa 26 and then to accommodate their tousled blonde haired baby, with a Contessa 32. The Princess had been smitten with Contessas for some time and had made friends with the high panjandrums of the Contessa class in their enclave far, far away and she was encouraged to perform missionary work on the savages she lived amongst and encourage those that also loved Contessas to get together and so she organised rallies and dinners. Time passed and the Contessa people in Scotland, for that is where she reigned, loved their Princess and enjoyed their dinners and bought her high quality calendars but lo and behold the Prince and Princess produced another golden hair child, sold their Contessa and bought an even bigger boat to cope with their expanding family. No longer owning a Contessa, the Princess decided to abdicate from her missionary role and looking around she found a grey haired old git, a sucker for a pretty face, and batted her eyelids provocatively until the GHOG cracked and agreed to take on the Scottish Contessa Association role.
As you may have guessed, I am that GHOG and am aware that I have none of the allure, social graces, charm, etc. of the Princess but I am certain that if I shout loudly, look fierce and abuse any Contessa owner I come across, I too will be loved and respected. To that end I would like to elicit the aid of the forum to find the whereabouts of all the Contessa 32s in our soon to be (or not to be) free nation.
I know the whereabouts of 35 of the things but if you nice people could clype on any other Contessas that you know of and let me know the name and whereabouts and if you know the owner and email address, even better. You can PM me and I promise not to reveal my sources or you could ask them PM me (and maybe add to the forum list). Thank you all.

I think you are 1 over - I counted 33 on your map and you say there should be 32.
Or are you 7 over on the 26.....

Either way, I cannot see where the 35 comes in - never heard of a Contessa 35, sounds nice - how do they sail?

Can we include Claymore 30s?

You are totally free to offer beer to anyone who can locate a Claymore 30 - shouldn't strain your pocket too badly. I, on the other hand, could be in deep doo-doo. There were well over 700 Contessa 32s built and if 10% are in our waters I could be buying 35 pints at the get-together.
So far only one possible and that's from our esteemed webmeister to whom I apologise for my recent mention of MMGW.

There's a Contessa 26 in Peterhead called Tystie. Never really spoken to the owner other than a "Fit like?" as we pass on the pontoon.

Ah, so that's where she went. Used to be at Port Edgar. Sorry, no rewards for Contessas that are not 32' long. I'm beginning to think I've captured the lot.
Cheers

'Eider' which appears on your list at Port Ed puzzled me. There's a boat of that name on the hard there but it's not a Contesa of any flavour, I think it's a Bowman 26. Maybe there is another boat with that name? Eider thought it was quite a common boat name (Boom Boom).

Thanks Ken. This is one I definitely know about 'cos she's sitting on my cradle at Granton. Are you lifting out this year?

Indeed, came out about 2 weeks ago. New standing rigging, new engine exhaust system, headlining repairs

, sealing of various deck fittings, and all the usual things to be done. It's very good to be a syndicate when all this has to be done and paid for.

There used to be a Contessa 32 called Craiganna in Ardfern and later Kip - haven't seen her for a couple of years though. When in Ardfern she was a charter boat - I don't know after that. Her hull was a pale blue colour.

The interweb ( well the CYCA website ) lists 41 Contessa 32's with clyde handicaps. A rummage through CCC yearbooks may turn up a few leads? Should keep you out of trouble for a while.

Saw a Contessa 32 in Kip yesterday - I think she was called Kinabalu II.
This might help:
http://cyca-online.org.uk/handicaps.asp
Click on the arrow next to 'Look up Boats'
Put Contessa 32 in the 'Enter the text to search for box' then fron the drop down list in the 'Select the field to search on' box select 'Class / Type Description' then press 'Search Database'
It will show 41 presumably Clyde based Co 32s.
