Just bought tickets for Dick Gaughin in Craignish Village Hall this coming Friday. There's still some left if anyone is interested.

Out of interest I looked this singer up on the wonderful WWW and here is his web site: -

http://www.dickgaughan.co.uk

What an interesting web site and in particular the "Dick Gaughan Ramblings" and :solutions seeking problems" rambling. An unexpected wee gem.

Phenomenal memory for words (obviously!) but also names places, names and faces. And selfless.

I saw Dick Gaughin on Alba last week in the Song for Ireland programme and I thought he encapsulated what for me is the worst style of folk singing - especially Scottish Folk singing. His nasal, tuneless delivery is one which has been copied by many aspiring Scots folkies and he has female equivalents. We have a fantastic heritage of music and song but much of it is murdered by those who purport to love it.

I agree 100% with you there Dougie. I personally wouldn't bother going to see him, even if it was free. And me an Aberdonian as well!
