has just tried to take knife through airport security

A couple of years ago I fixed the outside light just before flying to Shanghai via Ed'burg and Paris. In Paris I found my 6" screwdriver in my pocket where I'd put it before climbing down the ladder. I dumped it in a bin sharpish. So I guess you didn't try to take your knife through EDI 'cos I doubt they would have found it.

My other half got a mini Swiss army knife through airport security about a dozen times (it was on her keyring and she didn't even think about it) before someone noticed. In Athens, I think.
