Did you watch the first of the new series?

BCC4 at 20.30.

Timothy and Shane Spall.

Seems they overwintered / refurbished in Buckie.

Banff, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Arbroath, Eyemouth.

Their route looked to go to Anstruther, but it wasn't mentioned.

The edits were to add the mention of Anstruther.

Yep, it looked good. They seem to be rushing South, and making more of the weather than seems right. I suppose they only have the film crew for so long and want to cover some distance.

Is it as nice as it looks or are they just showing the best bits, on a good day?

I went to secondary school in Banff.

I started this thread a while ago - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5368

Nick used to live in Stonehaven.

A few of our forumites are based in that area.

I like the area, but have never sailed there except for a day trip in a wee fishing boat out of Portsoy.

I'm from farming stock rather than fisher so the sea isn't in my blood.

A lot of the wee harbours in the Moray Firth have put in pontoons for leisure craft.

I seem to have missed a couple of series. Last I remember they were heading west along the south coast and suddenly they're heading south along the east coast.

I've seen more than that. I saw them come past Liverpool, IoM, and rush through the west coast of Scotland. Don't remember them in the Caley canal, but that was likely to have been 1 episode only. When you consider how long it took them to get round the corner at Lands End in real life, they tend to whizz along pretty fast in the progs.

I met them in Peterhead. I bumped into the guy doing the on shore filming in the marina car park, who asked me about where to get the best shots. When they came in, I gave them a hand to get the shore power hooked up as they were having a wee bit of bother.

Nice couple, and very friendly.

I used to live in Newtonhill - but I'm all better now.

the Aberdeenshire coast is not one I'd choose to sail along- I have windsurfed a fair bit of it though..

I don't understand why he stayed so far out- the cliffs between Aberdeen and Caterline are very picture-skew from the sea - and he had an offshore wind.

There's many pot buoys and floats down that coast.
Most are in the first couple of miles out from the shore.
