I was only today reminiscing about the early days of Glasow curries when you could choose between the Koh-i-Noor or the Shish Mahal, both of Gibson St - or have a fish supper. The Koh did a student lunch of basic curry, rice and chapati for a half-crown if memory serves (that's 12.5p for you young folk) served on oilcloth-covered folding card tables by middle-aged waiters without a word of English between them. They were still trying to adjust to the Scottish palate and mince curries were prominent on the menu. I'll bet you can still get Keema Peas Madras in Gibson St.

The Herald diary reported a chip shop in Maryhill selling samosas as "Paki Bridies".

I used to go to the Ko for business lunch 5 days a week when it was 3/3d which suddenly and alarmingly changed to 33P..
Then the posh extension to the dining room fell in the river.
That'll teach them for being greedy.
My benchmark curry is a Bhoona lamb madras from the Shish Mahal - still searching for decent competition.
