Calmac's little mistake at Ardrossan..

Just heard about this from a friend in Brodick...
"Brodick 15/02/2012 disrupted/delayed due to technical reasons. As the MV Caledonian Isles was entering Ardrossan Harbour yesterday evening, the weather deteriorated suddenly resulting in some damage being caused to the vessel. As a result of this incident and in the interest of safety the vessel is required to enter dock for inspection and repairs. Unfortunately this means that the 0945hrs sailings from Ardrossan and the 1105hrs sailings from Brodick this morning have been cancelled. Arrangements are being made to have the relief vessel crewed as quickly as possible and it is hoped to have it on service some time later today, the arrival time will be advised as soon as it is known. We are doing our upmost to have this vessel crewed as quickly as possible, however this will take some time and we ask for your patience and understanding during this time. CalMac Ferries advises its customers that the sailings on this service are subject to the arrival of the relief vessel and as such may be cancelled or delayed at short notice. We will update the situation regularly throughout the morning, the next being at 0930hrs. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, but assure you of our efforts to resolve the situation as soon as is practicably possible. "
The local story was she slowed down - as usual, but went too close to the Light house end of the harbour entrance, didn't have enough steerage to keep off the wall and glanced against it on her Starboard side in a NW squall.
No doubt some questions will be asked..
