What a good weekend

Saturday was quite hard work, heaving spars about, bending on sails, poking around in dark corners and applying large spanners to Cherry Ripe's enormous rigging screws. George did an excellent job on the extensive selection of wires coming down the mast and by Sunday morning we had fully operational lights, radar, VHF and everything. An inaugural sail was clearly called for so we ran down the Forth to just short of Oxcars and had an exciting beat back on a glorious sunny afternoon. The phrase 'stands up to her canvas well' came to mind when we had the lee rail under in 25kts or so with the full main and genny. No staysail but a bit overcanvassed really.
The only part of the day that didn't go too well was getting back onto our somewhat awkward berth, fortunately we had sorted oorsels out before the neighbours came in from their racing. This is not a boat that was conceived with marina berthing in the forefront of the designer's mind. All in all a pretty successful and enjoyable weekend. I'm a bit knackered today.
