It looks as though I might be in Troon on Friday evening prior to getting the Larne ferry Sat morning - anyone around?

You are more than welcome to a bunk on a small boat & the use of our club facilities.

That is really very nice of you after me slagging you off on TOP :D

(Sorry  )

I already have a berth on a UFO31 called (I think) Utopie if I need one, but the use of the club facilities sounds braw. I should be getting into Troon around 5.15 Friday, probably nearer 6 by the time I have walked to the marina. Will you be on board or around later in the club? PM or e-mail me your mobile number, hope we can meet up for a small scoop.

“after me slagging you off on TOP”…. ahhhh….that was nothing!.....I’m just very thick skinned from years of living below the waves….. with some right Monstars.

Yep…a UFO31 trumps a Newbridge 23 for space and comfort…. but I like to think of her as cosy.

Our club is very basic, but we do have a kitchen, shower (one of in the Ladies), toilets and a workshop / garage.

You can also bring food back to eat before proceeding down the boat if you so wish, or cook onsite.

Had a quiet social down at Troon.

Nick was onboard a very nice HR, gave him a text & we went for Fish & Chips back at the club, then over to the Bar / Pub for a couple of nightcaps where our Nick found some (apparently) very nice real-ale. Myself on the other-hand was on the shandy as I was driving... :(
Talked about everything nautical (as-yer-do!) & then it was early-ish night (before 23:59) for Nick as he was heading off to Ireland chasing a HR42 the next morning & I had a long and meaningful conversation with one of our members until 02:00 back in the club house.

I think Nicks advice to the owners (of both HR’s) saying not to over winter (as live-aboards) in Troon and to head south was very sensible…. although I hope he has success in convincing them to continue-on with a 600 ish mile leg to the Canaries......as swimming on Christmas day just has to be!

its not clear from your post as to whether he got a round in.....?

He has something of a name around much of Argyll for being as close as a dead heat.
