My Grandson looked at last months lady on the pulpit and said it was dangerous. He is 4.

Bloody indoctrination by his Nanny no doubt! No wonder they call it a Nanny State.

I had to work really hard to get my kids & grandkids doing stuff that their mum's & nan's called dangerous.

Actually, nothing to do with Nan. Its all down to Mum.
She doesn't want us to take him on the boat for a 3 day cruise in July in case he gets bored and throws himself overboard.

Well, a bit of MoB practice would certainly add a little excitment to the occasion.

We always put ours in a harness & life line unless kept below. On passage, set 'em up in a bunk with a load of their toys/ colouring books or DS - whatever turns them on. We used to use clear perspex wash boards if the weather was iffy so we could see them & they could see us.

Bring 'em into cockpit as you arrive, or you see seals/ dolphins/ basking sharks or whatever. My son was the best bouy spotter I ever had, his eyes were far better than anyone elses aboard & he loved being first to "spot the bouy".

The other thing, is I have a twin keeler so beaching was always popular & you could just let 'em run wild with instructions to return if you blow the fog horn or they are hungry!
