Currently 'debating' with a man called Carl on the ForArgyll website re. the proposed transit marina in Oban. Here's what he says:
(Italics are mine). There is, locally, considerable opposition to this proposed ruination of an iconic bay. Phill is far from alone. Most people I talk to say that there are enough berths at north, south, and west of Oban (all connected to Oban by good bus or ferry) not to need to destroy the centrepice of our lovely town. Remember that a transit marina will be only used by people who are essentially caravanners on water, fully stocked with supplies they bring with them from their home towns. OBM may not realise, as they never did a marine biology survey of the bay, that there are eel grass beds there which provide habitat to severely protected seahorses. It is likely that an injunction on this basis will stop any building works in its tracks; much to the relief of most.
