I guess I could have used a comma or two, but they seem to be in short supply these days. I blame Lyn Truss, she must have nicked half the world's supply to make the little stickers for her book!
Actually I must confess the sheep are SWMBOs, I am merely assistant shepherd and haulier. They have a great sailing heritage, their ancestors made the journey from Scandinavia to here via some Scottish islands before the invention of the aeroplane, and I assume they didn't swim
The shooting is really just a quick bang now and then. I could confess to the wholesale slaughter of clay pigeons, but if I did the animal rights mob would probably protest.
That leaves the sailing bit, which I quite enjoy really, or at least I would enjoy it if the weather improved a bit. It's also the one about which I know least, hence my presence here; I have come to learn at the feet of the masters ???
When the weather improves I will get my newly aquired vessel from Liverpool to Fleetwood (taking good care to steer clear of the marauding natives with their Claymores) and learn to sail her around Morecambe Bay and out to the IoM before venturing further. All a great adventure - for the past year I've been sailing on Windermere but have just sold that boat in situ, and I'm really, really looking forward to the prospect of being able to sail for more than 10 minutes without tacking.
Anyway, I may be a novice, but the wine bottle beckons so I'm going to go and open it. I have but one pearl of wisdom to offer to the sailing world - don't give your crew a job! I made the stupid mistake of employing my last crew and only then realised that in his new capacity he could not take holidays If I was away, and vice versa
