I hope you've got a good post planned Ash.
In your own time. No pressure.

Bit of you scratch my back and i'll scratch yours here.
Ash vote for me as Commodore (is that not a new fangled computer thing) and you will have my vote for admiral.

I then realised who was next on to the high table and nearly swooned

Well as Ash is about to be the sixth Admiral it only leaves me to say that after some extensive searching (well, opening up another tab on the difference engine) that I can announce that the collective noun for such an er group of chentlemen is 'A bridge of Admirals'.
Now Mr Nick, sir, are we going to see a new grade - First Sea Lord of Bluemoments - perhaps?
The handy thing with trailer sail boats is you can pop out & open the hatch when you come home from the hairdressers

Hi Everyone
I wasn't ignoring this thread - I've been back to Dusseldorf to bring home my truck. I had a quick look at the Forum this morning before going down to Kip to work on the mast - a more successful day - plug soldered, blocks for lazy jacks fitted, new antenna mount fitted, new mount for wind indicator fitted.

I certainly do feel the pressure - I'm not sure that I can rise to the challenge. A suitable subject might have been a description of my first sail on the Clyde on my own boat, but I'm not sure if I can keep quiet for that long. Maybe you could delete some of my less worthy posts to knock my count back a bit!
I had hoped to just sneak in with a
YaaHoo - This is my ........th post
, but this thread has scuppered that idea.

. BTW - do the coloured Admirals get a burgee? Will peeps think that I'm constantly in quarantine?

Ok - that's a deal.

Aren't you the only candidate?
In actual fact, I started my working life as a Merchant Navy Engineering Cadet. I wonder if my uniform is up in the loft? I suspect that the only bit that might still fit is the cap!

For a while, I thought that your skipper might overtake me as his posting rate was much higher but the maintenance of 3 boats is taking it's toll and he's slowed down a bit just lately.

If we are going to run out of colours, then I think that your skipper is likely to become a Vice Admiral or a Rear Admiral - does either description fit??

To save complication I think I'll have a new screen name when my post count gets into the high 900s. I could try using the boat name instead of naming the boat after my screen name.

Doesn't that mean you have to start again?
I think you trod on a snake.

Ash…… everyone! Rear Admiral is the highest position, as he has both balls!
Position, status, title and / or money is no trade-off for a ball.

Well, I for one have finished with my balls. If I begot a child at this stage of life, I would stab myself with a broken autohelm.
So, nothing less than Master of the Aquatic Universe will do.

Well, my brother remarried late & started a second family (the first had all grown up) Linda & I thought he was bonkers, but it gave him a new lease of life. Suddenly, as they started school he was mixing with a new, younger crowd & it rejuvenated him, we were gobsmacked. Mind you, now the second edition are grown up, he is deteriorating fast! But then, he is over 70 & has been living hard for 50 years!

Well, nothing on 'Ash Wednesday' either - oh well it must be nothing for 40 days until 'The cruise' then
