An awfy disjointed puerile prog, I thought. Was glad to see the camera was running when Jude tried to ram them and I thought Griff was a little rude about the venerable Glen Afton. My wee boat appeared 3 times but apart from the WHYW bit, I wondered why I bothered.

Jane and I were to be glimpsed briefly at the extreme left of shot ashore at Kilmore games. We enjoyed the games, once the rain had stopped.

In all fairness Glen Afton do have a reputation for on the water 'bullying' - simply because they are usually much heavier than the other boats in their class.
I quite enjoyed the show - I thought it was better than the last one - I didn't see the point of the rowing race though.

I watched last night's episode. Oban to the Uists.

Too much inane chat, not enough of anything of any real interest.

For instance, when in Knoydart there are much more interesting things to see than three geezers sitting in a pub and much more interesting things to hear about other than there would be another BBC crew arriving shortly.

A wasted opportunity

The continuity (or lack of it) was causing my poor wee brain to burl. They seemed to teleport back and forth with helicopter shots of Oban and Tobermory slotted in randomly. I don't remember the weather being that good!

I wonder if any soft southerners will venture north on the strength of the programme?

I assume the comments are being copied to the appropriate TV producers, as well as this forum, so we can benefit from your constructive criticism in future episodes?

The three are enjoying a series of self indulgent jaunts in a variety of craft in a variety of locations around the uk. they don't take themseves seriously and neither should we.
I'm glad I watched it, mostly enjoyed it and found it a lot better that so much of the reality shows and other rubbish that contaminates the airways.
could it be better? well, you start getting into a more serious genre of sailing/cruising programme that wouldn't attract an audience so perhaps we should just be grateful for what we got, however as the "great climb" showed, with some imaginative programme design, something much better should be possible.
We live in hope....

this soft southerner (in fact a reiver ) was sufficiently impressed by the pictures of glorious sunshine, to decide that a return trip is merited, if not this year, then next.

Soft ? Went for a two day sail a couple of days ago out of Plymouth and have only just thawed out. Oh, yes, just remembered, spent a couple of weeks with that nice Mr Ridgway at Ardmore a few years ago. Ended up at Sandwood Loch, camping on the beach in April. And, oh yes, another couple of weeks arduous training out of Aultbea in another existence. Maybe softish, now, but not in the past.

I think it's a sailing programme in the samy way as Top Gear is a motoring programme. It's just entertainment with a loose conection to the water and West Scotland.

If you have sailed in the area it must seem a bit tame but for someone who hasn't got past Ardnamuchan yet it was a prommise of better things to come.

Don't bother taking your golf clubs to Knoydart though!

I was a bit disappointed too but as GS says we have to be grateful for what we get.

The second (was it?) series was the best IMO when they had some fresh weather on Griff's own boat somewhere around the SE corner of England. There was a real edge-of-fear feeling from Dara and Rory on what was clearly their first taste of such conditions that rang true for me.
