Nick's foolish idea: ARC2011 on Mojomo

Your leader has finally lost his remaining few marbles and floated the idea of coming on Mo' for ARC2011. I think he might be the right sort of person for this due to his very extensive experience of pre-and post-sailing partying. As you all know, my main job as skipper on the ARC is to make sure that the crew get to the ARC parties and don't skive off to do boat prep, and Nick is exactly the sort of henchman needed. Obviously there's a limit to this parting and there are some auld crew hereabouts for whom additional party duties would present a grave medical danger.

Amongst my favourite NickSailing stories are his finding an abandoned drifting boat better than his own (oh yes it was) plus that other time when i talked to him after his boat spun all over the place at a CC, and i later sed what was that? and he blamed his crew, and i sed ooh not very skipperish to blame the crew, and then the next day his boat all over again and i asked him about that too, and he said "my fault entirely - i didn't realise that the crew were quite so cr ap", oh and there was other time when i let him drive the big fat car, also playing his Albin vega chair leg etc etc

ARC2011 means crew have to arrive on the boat in Las palmas no later than Monday 14th November. Prep is mainly going to supermarket and buying lots of food - about five trolley loads for five crew or six if there's six. Plus all those parties of course. Departure is Sunday 20th November. Yeah, departure, which means getting on the boat and leaving and NOT coming straight back due to some bullsht reasons. Hah. He's got 11months of this yet. Well, only just over 10months now. I hope he's got the stamina- I'm not sure is at all aware of what he's let himself in for...

can you suggest a typical weekly training regime, so that Dear Leader, Nick Jim-Uno, arrives mentally and physically at the very top of his nautical game? I imagine that resistance to the effects of alcohol is a priority, so based on experience, is familiarity the best defence ?

Claymore offers odds of 10/1 that one of you will shove the other overboard before 12 days are passed

Oh am i not sure i want anyone at the top of their game and making me look really rubbish. I normally have to turn the batteries and gas off and so on so that i can -sigh- help people find their way around the complex boat systems ahem.

Drinking-wise i would have thought an early-season chentlemans cruise would get nick in the right frame of mind. I would like to see him repeat his impromptu dock party-ette as per Tobermory, but with more crisps. Mojomo has a deck locker decorated in the style of a swimming pool and we fill that with cans of beer, so he's already on the right lines.
