Kindle and Sony get a lot of mention, but I've just realized there are countless book readers.

Laputa looks good and has a ton of free books. A fair few nautical books and tons of other stuff. (I haven't looked in detail - I noticed "Fanny Hill" by John Cleland and pretty much stopped looking at that.)

Just in case anyone's interested, and doesn't know.

Various book readers have been around for a while. For me, what sets the Kindle apart, is its screen. It really is more like reading a piece of paper than reading off a screen and isn't backlit. If you turn off the WiFi it gives a battery life of over a month as well.
Something which all e-book readers might find useful is a piece of software called 'calibre' (google it for a free download) - it will convert many formats of e-book to the format that you want.

Thanks for all that. I was talking about Kindle for the Android format. I've no doubt the Kindle hardware is head and shoulders above the rest.
