Just a straight plug for Dylan Winter's excellent 'Keep Turning Left' website, which is a video record of his very slow circumnavigation of the UK aboard a 19 foot Mirror Offshore. Dylan is attempting to fund his trip by charging a very modest fee to become a member of his site. Membership gives access to all the videos.

This looks as though it is going to become one of the most comprehensive records of its time of sailing activity round the UK coastline. Here's one of Dylan's videos to give you an idea of the quality:

The videos are extremely well produced. Dylan says:
Thirty years a broadcast journalist—and I have spent a lot of time standing beside some really, really good cameramen who really understand light and framing, I would be too ashamed to show my stuff to any of them. They used to say that a drummer was a bloke who hung around with musicians. Well I have hung around a few of the BBC’s best cameramen.
The videos on the site are higher resolution than this sample, with some being available in HD. There are dozens of them. Membership of KTL is just $4.99 .

Hi Nick,

I’ve been following our Dylan since he set sail on his epic voyage in 2008 from Bainbridge on the IoW (well I think it must be almost epic in a Mirror Offshore 19.)

You certainly selected a good video to introduce him by. :D

Here is another link which will help acquaint us all with our man D.

Strongly seconded! Dylan is doing this on a shoestring while earning a living, but is putting a lot of effort into getting it right.

He has a good commentary voice (professional radio commentator amongst other things) and a nice relaxed/ laid back style. He loves his subject & is right up there with Maurice Griffiths as an exponent of the delights of quiet creeks & bywaters.

He's bloody brilliant.

I hope he does a DVD one day. I'd buy it.
