Nick, one of yours I notice. Can you explain why a punter must register to use most online shops that I know? It's a PITA I find and my high st shops never ask for so much background on me before agreeing to take my money off me.

This centuries version of the combine harvester.
He sells your info to someone who anaylyses it and sells the result to lots of people who make things your profile will like, they sell them to wholesalers who sell them to people who try to sell you something you don't want.
Just look at the business you have generated simply be registering online.
(You are registered HERE aren't you?)

The info is required for the order - name and address are pretty much an essential if you want someone to send you something. You would have to give these details at the checkout stage anyway. By registering you only have to give them once.

No reputable business is going to give away or sell your details. There are obligations under the data protection act apart from anything else.
