Primarily aimed at people within the industry, the organisers also suggest that the event will be of interest to those involved in local yacht clubs. From the Green Blue website;
- This year’s event is being held in Glasgow on the 9th of October, with the generous support of GTG Training and Scottish Natural Heritage.
A programme packed with high quality speakers will arm delegates with practical information about how they can save energy and resources in their club, marina or business, saving thousands of pounds in the process. There is also a social evening planned for the night of the 8th with a free drinks reception!
The conference is aimed at anyone who works within the marine industries including marinas and boatyards, both inland and coastal. It will also prove useful to people who are active in their local yacht clubs.
There will be opportunities to have your questions answered and to learn more about grants available for environmental initiatives in clubs, marinas and businesses. It will also give delegates the chance to hear about the latest developments in marine legislation and wildlife crime.
The conference begins at 9.30am. Tom Cunliffe, writer, broadcaster and renowned sailor, will be giving the key note address straight after lunch and Stuart McMillan MSP will close the conference at 4pm.
Workshops will include sessions on energy efficiency, invasive species and the economics of recreational boating. GTG Training will also be running PowerPoint and health and safety workshops so you can boost key business skills and improve environmental performance!
The cost for attending is £30 for RYA and BMF members and £40 for non-members, which includes refreshments, lunch and delegate pack. The venue is only 20 minutes from Glasgow airport and a short taxi ride from the city centre train stations.
