I've lifted these quotes from another thread, which started as a discussion on Ancora Latina.

It did seem funny at the time, but it's wearing thin now.

Bill - I'm very sorry if clicking on my link caused you to receive so much email spam.

I'm not sure how clicking on a link or even entering the site could provide the spammers with an email address - you didn't buy any of the products did you?.... :troll:

Can the spammers find your email address from your IP address which I expect they can get when you click on a website?

My email address is @ntlworld.com which is now part of Virgin Media - the standard filter has always been very good and very little spam arrives in my inbox. For a while the viagra adverts which looked as though the email was from an individual used to get through but Virgin have recently made changes to their email service and the new spam filter seems to be even more aggressive - no more viagra and if I look in the spam box then I can see a couple of emails which I would have accepted in my inbox.

Ash

BTW - The willi pump thread was titled Strange Pumps which deteriorated into a serious boaty discussion. Do not click on the links in my first post.

Hi Ash.
No puchases made, but I suspect cookies laid at the time...
I now clear automatically after each session, but still get offers on how to make it bigger and keep it inflated.
Interestingly one of the viagra things seemed genuine, as I asked them to drop me from their list due to being on beta-blockers (possibly fatally incompatible?) and they did. But the rest keep coming.
Ho hum.

Have you tried adjusting your spam filter settings? I've had a google and it seems that blueyonder's spam filter is not highly rated and that it may not even be switched on by default but you can probably improve it with a bit of judicious tweaking. I presume there is a facility to tag emails as spam and that you do do this?

Alternatively there are plenty of third party spam filters available which will be more configurable and/or more "intelligent".

Another approach would be to open a new email account or accounts and give one only to friends and family, keeping another for using on the net. Even this is not completely safe however since there are various nasties which can get your email address by compromising the account of a friend. I appeared to spam everyone I knew a few years ago when my hotmail contact list was harvested after using an internet caff.

Decent spam filtering is a must.

They go in the junk mail, which is a filter I suppose, but so do any "unknown" but perfectly valid notes. I'll have a look at settings etc.
I don't 'mark as spam' because it's too many keystrokes, I just empty the junkbox after removing the valid notes.
