- to Nick for not flying my BM burgee!

There I was in Whitehills on my way back to Peterhead, when who should appear into the harbour but Nick and Kathy on Fairwinds.

I had been flying my burgee from the port spreaders until the halyard broke. I then transferred it to the stbd spreader, but that halyard also parted company.

I did try a jury rig arrangement while I was in Wick, but it looked really naff, so I took it down.

So if anyone else saw Rowana in Whitehills, Wick, Helmsdale, Cromarty or Lossiemouth over the last 3 weeks or so with no burgee, now you know why.

.
It's been called a demented budgie and now it's breaking flag halyards . . .

We've been flying ours from the backstay where it can't do any damage.

We put a small cringle in the pointy end (haven't a clue what that is called), tied on a sheet and trimmed it off and lo and behold we get an extra 2 knots and no noise...also it self tacks..

I fly my ensign from the backstay, so that's out I'm afraid.
